어렵다, 가깝다, 춥다, 덥다, they are all adjectives just like 좁다.

but 좁다 shouldn't be here because it follows the regular rule when it meets with other endings.
좁아요, 좁으니, 좁으면, 좁아서...

I guess you mistook it for 줍다.
주우니, 주워서, 주우면, 주워요...

Is this clear?

좁다 is not the same case.
줍다 is, which means to pick up.

in the case of 돕다/곱다/좁다, ~ㅂ should be changed to the vowel ~오 then usually followed by the vowel ~아, example: 돕다 - 도왔씁니다, 곱다 - 고왔습니다, but if the changed form is followed by ~(으), the vowel ~우 should follow, it becomes like this 돕다 : 도 + (으)면 = 도우면, 곱다 : 고 + (으)니까 = 고우니까...... but all the verbs you listed above are also descriptive verbs..anyway, if the verb stem ends in ~ㅂ and is followed by an ending beginning with a vowel, ~ㅂ should be changed to ~우 just like your examples above...어렵다= 어려워요, 춥다= 추워요verbs..anyway, if the verb stem ends in ~ㅂ and is followed by an ending beginning with a vowel, ~ㅂ should be changed to ~우 just like your examples above...어렵다= 어려워요, 춥다= 추워요
